Grok 4.1

Grok 4.1 is xAIs AI model released in November 2025. It delivers more natural dialogue, fewer hallucinations and better style control, and comes in two variants: one that answers directly and one that reasons before responding (Thinking).

Grok 4.1 — explained in detail

Grok 4.1 is the evolution of the Grok model line developed by xAI, Elon Musks AI company. It was released on 17 November 2025 and is accessible via grok.com, the X platform and the iOS and Android apps. Access is proprietary.

The model comes in two configurations: Grok 4.1 Non-Thinking (NT), which answers directly, and Grok 4.1 Thinking (T), which reasons explicitly before responding. Compared with its predecessor Grok 4, version 4.1 focuses on more natural, fluid dialogue, a lower hallucination rate, more factually accurate answers and stronger style control. xAI also cites creativity as well as emotional and collaborative interaction as strengths.

For enterprise use, xAI made API variants available from 19 November 2025 (grok-4-1-fast-reasoning and grok-4-1-fast-non-reasoning), optimised for real-world tool use — such as web search, code execution and document retrieval. According to the provider, these fast models show measurable improvements on long-context and multi-turn tasks.

Example / practical relevance

Grok 4.1 is used both in end-user chat (via X and the Grok apps) and through the API in applications. The Thinking variant suits tasks that require multi-step reasoning; the Non-Thinking variant and the fast models are geared towards quick, tool-assisted workflows such as research with web search or document retrieval.

Distinction

Grok 4.1 is the direct successor to Grok 4 and distinguishes itself mainly through fewer hallucinations and more natural language. Unlike open models (such as Gemma or Llama), Grok is proprietary and closely tied to the X platform. The split into Thinking and Non-Thinking modes sets it apart from models with only a single answer path.
